I never thought our long relationship would end so easily with just a single sentence from her saying she was tired of our long history together.

No matter how desperately I clung to her, she coldly abandoned me and walked away, and I was left alone.

I cried a lot, and I suffered a lot.

There were even days when I stayed cooped up in a corner of my room, drinking endlessly like a complete wreck.

If I hadn’t enlisted in the military right away and at least had the physical hardship to distract me, I might have ended up having some really disturbing thoughts.

But our relationship was over anyway.

It was difficult to pull myself together, but after spending two years thinking things over, I finally decided to forget her and start a new life.

And so, after completing my military service, I returned to school and answered a call from an unknown number.

If I had known it was her, I never would have answered that call.

[Gun Yul… You know… Can’t we start over?]

Her trembling voice called my name.

Her words, mixed with sobs, came through the receiver.

Because she was the woman I had loved more than anyone, I was familiar with the way she spoke.

But now, that was the voice I wanted to hear less than anyone else’s.

As she pleaded with me, I couldn’t say a word.

After abandoning me so coldly back then, why was she doing this to me now?

Without realizing it, I felt the tears I had forgotten about welling up in the corners of my eyes again.

[Please… I’m begging you. Don’t hang up. Just listen to me this once.]

I had no intention of continuing to listen to her.

Our relationship was completely over anyway.

I cut her off and simply said what I had to say.

[–I have nothing to say to you. Don’t call me again.]

–Click.

And just like that, the call ended weakly.

As coldly as our relationship, which had already come to an end.
