Chapter 53: Togo Napshin (5)
Part 8
“Well then, I’ll wrap up the stream for now,” I said.
- You’re jobless!!!!
- Let us hear your voice more…
“I’ll probably go live again this afternoon to apologize to those who missed this one,” I added.
My offhand comment was met with a flood of question marks. Their confusion was palpable, as if I’d said something odd. Did I misspeak? The thought flickered, but saying “I’ll stream again this afternoon” was straightforward—nothing to misinterpret.
“…It’s early, so some people probably couldn’t tune in, right?” I explained.
Making a list of people to apologize to from the VOD would be ideal, but that felt excessive. Most of Sanghyeon’s viewers would likely show up for his stream, but interrupting his time to apologize felt wrong. Streaming again later seemed the most reasonable option.
- No need for that.
- Everyone watching Cheungjeokun’s stream probably already knows lol.
“What…?” I blinked.
- You haven’t checked the forums even once?
As I moved my cursor to a hyperlink in the chat, it hit me—I’d forgotten. Someone had mentioned checking out ego-searching and streamer community sites. Back then, I hadn’t thought much of it. My part-time job and hectic life left no room to bother, but I’d been told to look. Forgetting until now was a bit embarrassing, but at least I remembered.
“Um, I was told to check it out once,” I said.
- Why show Nunabbattajo that pervert hangout lol.
- Ego-searching probably won’t feel great.
- Only kind words and compliments for Nunabbattajo~.
- Don’t trust us viewers lol.
It was a general community site with various forums, including one for streamers and their broadcasts. Scanning the post titles, it seemed some filtering was in place—no blatantly offensive language stood out.
Most posts were chatter about which streamer was good or bad at games, their looks, or recent changes. Scrolling slowly, I spotted a post about Sanghyeon: Will Cheungjeokun hit Master this season? Imagining him shouting, “Of course I will!” made me chuckle.
“Oh…?” I said.
- Oh.
- No, stop clicking!
- Lololo.
I was skimming titles, avoiding clicking, when one caught my eye: This Month’s Bonfire Pervert Art Collection. With Bonfire present and the earlier teasing, the short title felt oddly magnetic.
- Wait a sec.
- Bonfire, you watching?
- Run, Bonfire, run!!!!!!
“When I saw your art last time, it seemed like normal pretty-girl drawings…” I said.
Click. The page loaded as I spoke. The first image—
“…Huh.”
- Lololololol.
- Bonfire, you fiend!!!! What did you draw?!
- Hnnng hnnng…
Sultry, almond-shaped eyes hit me first. A mocking smirk. A flowing, curvaceous outline tracing down a bare neckline. Colors evoking semi-nudity. It could’ve been eye candy—if it weren’t 80% animal, with beastly features dominating. I might’ve enjoyed it otherwise.
- Check out that back-button speed lolol.
- Nunabbattajo! My cursor’s shaking!
I’d reflexively hit back the moment the furry image registered. The forum’s plain post list reappeared, the clicked post now purple.
“…Uh, ah… um…” I stammered.
- Sorry… sorry… sorry…
- Bonfire messed up lolol.
- Who told you to draw that lolol.
- I didn’t draw it because I wanted to!
The overly stimulating image clearly rattled both me and Bonfire. Or maybe they were just pretending—after all, they drew it. Even if it was for viewer requests, they’d put in the effort.
“…Tastes, yeah, they deserve respect…” I said.
- Nuna…?
“Let’s, um, rethink drawing me. Yeah, that’s best,” I said.
Laughter erupted. A chat from Bonfire pleaded for help, saying they couldn’t back out after scaring viewers.
“But… animal costumes are a bit… too niche, no?” I said.
- Nuna!!!! It’s a misunderstanding!!!!
Teasingly lowering my voice, I got a lengthy explanation in response. Amid the wave of laughter, I held back my own, watching intently.
Part 9
[Today’s Cheungjeokun Nunabbattajo Stream Summary] – Anonymous
- Apologized for yesterday’s outburst. Said she felt bad and insisted viewers accept her apology even if they thought it wasn’t needed.
Promised a Traveler cosplay as atonement. A capable viewer will provide the costume, claiming it’s high-quality from a well-known team.
Bonfire, inexplicably free from work, showed up. Said the illustration they’d mentioned will align with Nunabbattajo’s schedule, drawn live during her cosplay stream. But isn’t that just Traveler fanart, not Nunabbattajo?
Meanwhile, Bonfire got roasted for their furry art getting exposed lol hnnng.
- Anonymous: Oof… that cold stare… scold me too… look down on me…
- Anonymous: The pic’s from today lolol?
- Anonymous (OP): Yup. Said she’d stream again this afternoon for those who missed it, but chat told her it’s already all over the forums. Ended up checking them out, and with Bonfire there, she clicked the monthly art collection.
- Anonymous: Eugh… Nunabbattajo… I’m weird in ways I shouldn’t be…
- Anonymous: It was so hard not to laugh. Glad you liked it.
- Anonymous: ? That sounds weird.
- Anonymous (OP): ????? Not using the community IP?
Part 10
- So, both of you are good for Thursday?
Bursting into laughter at Bonfire’s desperate, almost tearful chat, I said, “Guess I won’t stream this afternoon then. See you at my brother’s stream,” and ended the broadcast. Earlier, I’d created a group chat with Dununttutturuppara-ppa and Bonfire using their shared contact info to coordinate schedules.
- I’m good. Bonfire-nim, you okay? I heard you’re busy.
- Work can be done in advance, no worries! It’s my request, so I’ll adjust to you.
- Sorry for the hassle.
- No way! Part-time jobs are important lolol.
Leaving a brief thank-you for their consideration, I smiled at the still-on monitor. Browsing posts about me and Sanghyeon was surprisingly fun, a good way to pass time.
- I’ll find the right size!
- Thanks for the effort.
- See you Thursday!!! Thank you, Nuna!!!!
- I’ll trust you one more time lol.
About 30 minutes passed as I skimmed posts between messages. Bonfire’s dramatic shocked emoticon was the last before I pressed the phone’s hold button. Should I avoid commenting? The thought crossed my mind, but I brushed it off with a It’ll be fine.
“‘I just want to hold Nuna’s hand once…’ Heh, cute. Acting like a kid,” I chuckled.
Some posts slipped past filtering, with harsh criticism of other streamers. There were probably ones like that about me or Sanghyeon, meant to hurt.
“…What’s for lunch? Toast, maybe?” I mused.
But if I hadn’t seen those posts, it meant more people liked me. That thought lifted my spirits. I felt closer to their kindness. Wanting to savor that warmth, I headed to the kitchen.
