Chapter 9: oh oh the unstoppable doll girl.

First day on the job.

Having triumphantly returned after my eventful encounter(?) with the first guest, the ‘Timid Guest,’

I discover a massive box delivered to the motel counter.

As the clock chimes 2 a.m., the box opens, revealing a tall woman—or rather, a tall female ‘doll’ inside.

“What… is this…?”

Even after confirming it’s a ‘doll,’ my reaction doesn’t change much.

And why would it? For a doll like this(?) to be delivered right when a guest is due to arrive,

As the motel manager, it’s only natural I’d be flustered.

‘For now, I should move it aside…’

But the more I observe the doll, the more I realize its craftsmanship is so exquisite it could pass for a real human woman.

‘Whoa… Incredible quality…’

Long, glossy black hair like dark silk.

A large, ornate hat perched on her small head, perhaps to cover the cute bangs.

And above all, despite wearing a delicate, frilly white dress, the sheer size of her… well…

Ahem.

Anyway, aside from her towering height—easily two, no, three meters—she’s undeniably beautiful.

The only thing distinguishing her as non-human is her eyes.

Those pitch-black, lifeless eyes, devoid of any spark, confirm she’s a doll.

‘Oh, right, no time to gawk. I need to move this before the next guest arrives.’

Pushing my admiration aside, I prepare to move the box to welcome the next guest.

‘…Wait a second. If I remember correctly…?’

A memory flashes through my mind—the ‘physical characteristics’ of the second guest, which I’d skimmed to identify the troublesome old man from earlier.

‘Right, the guest arriving at 2 a.m. was described as a ‘tall woman.’’

According to the guest manual, the 2 a.m. guest is a ‘tall woman.’

And coincidentally, this mysterious doll was delivered to the motel lobby at exactly 2 a.m.

This can’t be a coincidence. Instead of moving the box aside,

I return to the counter to check the guest manual and get a handle on the situation.

‘The 2 a.m. guest protocol… Here it is.’

[2:00]

└ The ‘tall female guest’ arrives at this time. This guest requires ‘special procedures’ but should be treated like any other guest.

└ Due to frequent misunderstandings leading to rudeness, please refer to the ‘appearance details’ below to ensure proper recognition.

└ Do not close the ‘psychological distance’ with this guest. Further details are provided on the following pages and must be thoroughly understood.

└ Additionally, we strongly recommend carrying the provided loaded revolver on your person before this guest’s arrival.

Appearance details: Long black hair, wearing a large hat and a white frilly dress, tall stature.

I had my doubts, but after reviewing the manual,

It’s clear this tall doll is indeed the guest scheduled to check in at 2 a.m.

Of course, a doll couldn’t make a reservation itself, so if a clueless guy like me had to guess,

Some eccentric billionaire or high-society type with weird hobbies probably booked this high-quality doll as a ‘guest’ for fun.

And the previous owner, likely blinded by the money, must have accepted this doll as a ‘reserved guest’ without a second thought.

‘Poor thing, you’ve been through a lot…’

The doll, shipped here without resistance, isn’t at fault.

So, even if my guess is right, I have no intention of sending her back or treating her carelessly.

Before being a ‘doll,’ she’s a ‘guest’ with a reservation.

As the motel manager, every guest who visits deserves fair treatment.

With the situation sorted, it’s time to focus on work.

‘Alright, I won’t make the same mistakes this time. I’ll be fully prepared.’

When I dealt with the Timid Guest earlier,

I made blunders like staring at her face without a blindfold,

Or handing over the room key I was explicitly told not to give without checking.

I made those foolish mistakes for two reasons.

First, I was too focused on the ‘dating sim’ genre, seeing her only as a ‘heroine’ instead of a ‘guest.’

Second, I didn’t thoroughly read and understand the guest manual.

This time, to avoid repeating those mistakes, I sit down and carefully flip through the manual, studying the protocols for this doll guest.

└ No special requirements exist for handling this guest. Please treat her with utmost courtesy and politeness.

└ The following pertains to the ‘psychological distance’ mentioned earlier. After completing the guest’s check-in at the lobby, please follow these instructions:

└ The 2 a.m. guest must not use the central staircase or elevator. Guide her to a room on the first floor.

└ Inside the assigned room, no matter what happens, you must leave within 5 to 10 seconds.

└ If, for ‘certain reasons,’ you feel reluctant to leave, inform the guest, ‘I’ve been called for room service, so I’ll step out briefly,’ and return to the counter.

└ Afterward, take the provided ‘sleeping pills’ and rest in the manager’s break room until the motel’s operating hours end.

└ If you cannot leave the room, use the provided revolver. Thank you for your efforts.

└ On days this guest is scheduled, no other guests will visit after 2 a.m.

It’s definitely longer and more complex than before.

But I’ve grasped the ‘key points,’ so there’s no issue.

Based on these rules, what the ‘owner’ of this doll guest wants can be summed up as this:

They want me to act like a refined, courteous butler serving a beautiful, tall ‘lady,’ while maintaining an absolute boundary.

‘Ugh… Perfect summary. I’ve really grown.’

Be gentlemanly and polite outside the room, but never enter it.

Keep an emotional distance, creating a forbidden, thrilling dynamic.

That’s what the doll’s owner wants to see.

‘They’ll probably ask for the CCTV footage later. What a pervert.’

As expected from the upper class, their demands are numerous, overly specific, and their tastes are downright perverse—

‘But I love it!!’

—To be honest, I don’t mind this kind of roleplay request.

This practice will surely help with future guest interactions,

And it’ll definitely make these boring early morning hours a lot more fun.

‘Alright, I’ll show I’m different from the previous owner. I’ll nail this roleplay.’

I steel myself, adjusting my facial expression and standing tall.

I fix my disheveled collar,

And with the utmost courtesy, I greet the doll guest lying stiffly in the box with lifeless eyes, signaling the start of the roleplay.

“Welcome to our motel, my lady.”

“…”

“Your reservation is confirmed. Allow me to escort you to your room, Room 104.”

“…”

As expected, there’s no response.

She’s a doll, after all.

But her expressionless face and lifeless eyes staring at me,

Along with her frilly dress reminiscent of nobility and her towering height—making even a 185cm guy like me look up—pull me deeper into the roleplay.

“Let us proceed, my lady. This way…”

I gently place the room key on the wrist of the doll guest, still lying quietly in the box.

As I prepare to guide her to the room, a question pops into my head.

‘How do I get her to the room?’

Since she’s not human, walking is obviously impossible.

Using some transport cart from the storage to move the entire box to the room… wouldn’t that look ridiculous?

No butler in the world would ‘transport’ a lady like cargo.

That leaves only one option.

I have to carry her to the room myself.

‘Think. How do I carry a lady politely while maintaining distance?’

A flurry of methods flashes through my mind,

But one stands out as perfect for this roleplay.

“Pardon me for a moment, my lady.”

I politely ask for her understanding, then lift the doll guest in a classic ‘princess carry,’ like something out of a romance manga.

Carefully, so her limp body doesn’t shake too much, I start heading toward Room 104.

“…”

Creak.

Creak.*

Without checking where her lifeless eyes are directed.
