Chapter 2: Hako Streamer (1)
The first game ended in vain, so I started the second round.
“Come on, be honest, stop sniping me.”
[You think I’d leave? LOLOL]
[That reaction was too good.]
[Your reaction was insane~~~ Is this really a newbie?]
“Keep that up, and I’ll hide the screen until I land.”
I actually cut off the broadcast feed.
The chat filled with groans and apologies, but I wasn’t turning it back on until I hit the ground.
“I should land somewhere with no people early on.”
I started my descent toward a spot on the map that looked too remote for anyone to bother with.
After confirming no one else was heading there, I reconnected the screen.
[Chill vibes]
[Zero snipers, success!]
[Still not sure LOLOLOL]
“Hey, I’m a total newbie. I need to at least know how to play.”
I said that as I entered a cabin at my landing spot.
I didn’t know which guns were good, but a familiar name caught my eye.
“AK? Is this decent?”
[It’s got some recoil but otherwise fine.]
[Might be tough for a newbie.]
[7mm goat.]
[7mm is the goat.]
[Good enough for your first gun.]
I picked up some 7.62mm ammo and a helmet, then left the area.
A notification popped up at the bottom of the screen, saying the play zone was shrinking.
“Wait, I have to get all the way over there?”
I opened the map and saw the shrinking zone was farther than I expected.
[Yup, you gotta get there to avoid damage.]
[That’s why people usually grab a bike or car.]
[First zone’s damage is manageable.]
[Just sprint like crazy LOLOLOL.]
There were no vehicles nearby, so I ran like mad.
I knew named cities were crowded, so I stayed as far away as possible.
Tadadadang!
“Whoa, that scared me!”
[They’re not shooting at you LOLOLOL.]
[LOLOLOLOL.]
[Newbie’s jumpy…]
[School’s probably got a pro by now, so avoid it.]
I took a wide detour around the place marked “School” on the map and entered the safe zone.
The zone was shrinking faster than I could sprint, so my health took a hit, but I recovered some with the bandages I’d grabbed earlier.
“Bandages stop working at 80% health, huh.
Do I just keep heading deeper into the zone now?”
[Yup, correct.]
[Now the real game starts.]
[You need more guns—one won’t cut it.]
While playing and glancing at the chat, something odd caught my eye.
“Hey, isn’t that a person over there on the road?”
Far off on the road, something was moving.
Since BattleSky doesn’t have AI, it had to be a player.
[That’s a person.]
[No scope, though? Too far to shoot…]
[Just go, you won’t hit anyway.]
[Don’t give away your position, just move.]
“Can I just follow that guy?”
[? LOLOLOLOL.]
[Newbies think differently, huh.]
[It’s not impossible LOLOLOL.]
It was just a silhouette from afar, but after not seeing anyone for five minutes in a PVP game, it felt oddly exciting.
I decided to sneakily tail them.
Tadang! Tang! Tadang!
“Whoa, that guy’s good.”
I stopped for a moment as they fired somewhere, and two kill logs popped up right on cue.
[They’re clearing the way for you LOLOL.]
[Legendary LOLOL.]
[They haven’t looked back once.]
Only three players remained.
As the zone shrank, the damage from being outside got brutal, and I scrambled in with barely any health left.
“I’m out of bandages!”
[Newbie reserving at least third place in their second game LOLOL.]
[That’s not skill, though LOLOL.]
[Have you even shot your gun?]
“Is this a shooting game or Running Man?”
I hadn’t fired a single shot, just followed this guy’s trail, so I couldn’t tell if this was a shooter or a survival race.
Tang!
Another kill log appeared.
Two players left… two?
Me. And them.
“Huh?”
[It’s go time.]
[Zoom and shoot.]
[Shoot before they turn around, quick.]
[Go go go go go!]
[Newbie getting chicken in their second game?]
Without thinking, I aimed and fired.
I’d set the gun to auto when I picked it up, so holding the mouse emptied the entire mag.
And then, the screen changed.
[Winner winner! Chicken dinner tonight!]
The iconic chicken dinner screen from BattleSky’s viral clips appeared.
[They got chicken LOLOLOLOL.]
[Newbie gets chicken in two games, damn.]
[How does this happen LOLOLOLOL.]
[That guy’s gotta be raging LOLOL.]
[1-kill win? In two games? Legendary.]
“Is this how you do it?”
The chat exploded at my dumbfounded reaction.
They called it legendary for an FPS newbie to win in two games, a moment for the platform’s history, and so on.
[1,000 won donation!] Settle the bets quick, I’m dizzy.
“Oh, right, the bets!”
I’d forgotten about the betting.
Checking it, 3% bet on chicken, 97% on failure.
Most of my regular viewers had bet against me.
“Those who bet on chicken hit the jackpot.”
[300 points, insane payout!!!]
[Who are you? Where am I?]
[Who’s this guy?]
[LOLOL collective amnesia.]
“Congrats to the chicken betters!”
I hit the settle button.
This game’s fun.
“One more?”
[Go go go go go!]
[No more points to bet LOLOL.]
[Go go go go go go!]
“The ones spamming ‘go’ are the ones who just won, right?”
[Yup, open it quick, I’m dizzy.]
[LOLOLOLOLOL.]
But I realized after playing more.
That second game was pure luck stacked on luck…
I couldn’t get a single kill in the next ten games.
[LOLOLOLOLOL.]
[Your talent is tragic.]
[How’d you win the second game LOLOL.]
[That’s a talent in itself.]
“Ugh, I wanna curse…”
*
“Good evening, Aramdan crew! Luha~”
The chat erupted with [Luha] at the cheerful greeting.
Lucia’s signature intro had long served as an 8 p.m. alarm for her viewers.
“March 28, 2025. Let’s get this stream started!”
[Sound the trumpets~~~~]
[Her Majesty has arrived~~~~]
[Insert random gong gif.]
[LOLOLOLOLOL.]
[Starttttttttt.]
[Startttttttttttt.]
As a top-tier streamer with an average of over 20,000 viewers, Lucia typically spent the first hour of her stream chatting about daily life, visiting cafes, or reacting to video donations.
[1,000 won donation!] Video donation.
“Thanks for the 1,000 won! The title… Beginner’s Luck?”
The video showed a streamer playing BattleSky.
Two players left, with one standing right in front of them.
“Huh?”
[Huh?]
The streamer and Lucia exclaimed at the same time.
Moments later, the sound of a full mag being emptied rang out, followed by BattleSky’s signature victory screen.
“Whoa.”
[Is this how you do it?]
The video ended with that.
The chat filled with question marks, but Lucia knew.
“How does that even happen?”
[1,000 won donation!] They’ve never played FPS before.
“Never played FPS and they pull that off?”
Reading the flood of chat messages, she pieced it together.
“So, an FPS newbie got sniped before landing in their first game, and this was their second?”
[Yup yup yup.]
[Correct.]
[Exactly.]
[Yup.]
[Yup.]
“And they got a chicken like that? Does that make sense?”
[1,000 won donation!] Newbie gets 1-kill chicken in two games, legendary…
“How many games did it take me to get a chicken…”
Lucia thought back.
Dozens of times she died because she was too slow to react.
Dozens of times she reached the final moments only to miss her chance.
And this person?
“The world’s unfair…”
[LOLOLOLOLOL.]
[Old-timer remembering the past LOLOL.]
[But they died without a kill for the next ten games LOLOL.]
“Really? That’s wild.”
[10,000 won donation!] Yo, sis, I got a job! Told the interviewer I watch Lucia, and they passed me.
“Oh! Thanks for the 10,000 won! Congrats on the job! Is that last part true?”
[LOLOLOLOL.]
[Lucia’s a seal of approval.]
[I’m an interviewer, it’s true.]
[LOLOLOLOL.]
[Congrats congrats congrats.]
[Job congrats!!!!]
The topic shifted quickly, as daily chats do, but Lucia, who’d struggled for ages to get her first chicken, couldn’t forget that video.
